It is also called as minimal invasive surgery. It is a specialized technique to perform surgery. In Lapaorscopic surgery only 0.5 cm to 1 cm incisions are made to introduce instruments in the abdomen and the procedure is performed after inflating carbondioxide gas in to abdomen to provide working space.
Lapaorcospic camera transmits images of the abdomen on to the high resolution monitors in the operating room. This system allows the surgeon to perform the same operations as traditional surgery but with smaller incisions.
Compared to traditional open surgery, patients often experience less pain, a shorter recovery, and less scarring (better cosmosis with laparoscopic surgery) .
- Laparoscopic surgery is as safe as traditional open surgery.
- Procedures that can be performed Lapaorscopy:
- Most intestinal surgeries can be performed using the laparoscopic technique. Lapaorscopic liver resection for cyst, tumour, hemangioma. Pancreatic resection and splenectomy are also done lapaoroscopically.
